We wanted to share some interesting facts about dieting, and perhaps help you with any weight related new years resolutions!

Firstly, there are two main parts to a diet and these are what you eat, and when you eat it. Aside from physical exercise of some form, these two things form the foundation of any successful dieting. What you eat includes calorie content as well as the nutritious content. As a grown woman of average build your body needs 1500-2000 calories per day. Even if you spend a lot of time sitting down, your body still burns calories. Brain activity is proven to increase the burning of calories and sugars and you may have noticed that you get hungry quickly after starting an assignment or a task on the computer.

Your liquid intake is included in this 2000 calories. Models Direct think that this is particularly important to remember because a lot of drinks are very calorific or full of unhealthy sweeteners. Popular sweeteners used include aspartame, which has proven catastrophic effects on health in the long term. These must be avoided and the majority of fluids you consume should be water or teas. Summer may be on its last legs and our sandals may be going into their annual hibernation, but Models Direct know that’s no reason not to keep your feet looking and feeling great. Professionals in the female modelling business are always looking for well-groomed talent so don’t let your feet let you down. Our feet have a quarter of the blood vessels in our bodies. They are one of the most sensitive areas and are easily forgotten about during daily care. Here are a few steps on how to give yourself the best pedicure.

Firstly trim and shape your nails. Remove your old nail polish with a nail polish remover and trim your nails neatly. Make sure you cut straight across and don't cut the corners too much, as this can lead to painful ingrown nails. Use a nail file to give them the desired shape. 

Run a little foot bath in a basin or tub. Fill warm water enough to cover up to your ankles and add some bath salts. You can add a few drops of any essential oil of your choice. Give your feet a nice bathe. Also add a few smooth pebbles to the water. These will provide a gentle massage as you place your feet on them. Soak your feet and relax. 

You're almost ready for your next modelling casting. Now you have to exfoliate. Rub some cuticle cream on the base of each toe nail. Leave it for a few minutes. In the meanwhile, use a foot scrub or exfoliating stone and remove all the dry and dead skin cells. Be firm but do not scrape too hard. Next, wipe off the cuticle cream and push back the cuticles gently with a cuticle pusher.

I had a wonderful time at the shoot, the people doing the filming were very helpful, and my fellow actor / models were terrific, we all had great fun - meeting new and interesting people is always a pleasure!

We were playing the part of a family enjoying a holiday at Medmerry Park, a large holiday complex of chalets on the South coast near Chichester. On the first afternoon, I was joined by three other models. I played the part of the grandfather, a charming lady played my wife, a very nice young man played our son, and finally a beautiful young lady played his wife (our daughter in law). We all became great friends. The next morning we were joined by two lovely children (a boy and a girl) playing my grandchildren. We swam, rode bicycles, enjoyed a jacuzzi, paddled in the sea - all the things a family does on holiday.

This is the first time I have been on a film shoot, previous work has been studio stills. This was a great new experience which taught me a lot.

I would certainly recommend this experience to others, it was great fun. I would advise anyone wishing to work in the talent industry to sign up with Talent Management and to have the best possible portfolio with excellent professional pictures. By all means use any contacts you have to pursue work yourself too. Keep in touch with your agency, let them know you are keen and willing to work and build a rapport with them. I was recommended by a friend to start modelling - obviously the money is a bonus, but I wanted something new and exciting to do - and to meet new people.

I had a fabulous experience being a model/actor for a day. I was not sure what to expect, but thanks to the amazing team members and the client I felt very welcomed. Theo was chosen to do his second clothes fittings with Old Brown/Coco Blu.  We arrived and were greeted by the same friendly faces who immediately made Theo feel comfortable and at ease. They took attention to detail such as making sure the heating was right and they engaged with Theo on his level. The experience was quick and very welcoming just like his first clothes fittings session. Are you convinced your baby has modelling potential? Models Direct has a few tips to help you out!

 It can be a fun way to fill the first year and spend time with your new-born. While my heart burst at the seams when her pictures appeared in magazines and catalogs, what I wasn't expecting was how it developed her confidence and self-esteem. It also teaches babies about working with others.

To find a reputable baby and child model agency, search online, and ask mums whose children model about their experiences. Do your research and avoid makeover studios posing as modelling agencies. In order to get an agency to see the potential in your baby, get professional, simple shots taken. These should not be airbrushed or digitally manipulated.

No silly shots in sunglasses or eating ice cream. Clear facial head shots and full-length shots are best at showing if your baby has what it takes.
Agencies are always looking for new-borns because they have a short modelling span.

They are always on the lookout for the next fresh face. Six months is a popular age because by then babies are sociable and smiley, plus they're stronger and starting to sit. It is before they reach the terrible two’s!

One thing that's guaranteed is if you've spent three hours on a packed train getting to a job or casting, you'll arrive with a grumpy tired toddler. You need to sacrifice your time to take your baby to these modelling auditions, and they might not get the part. If you know a good local agency, use them.

Feedback for Facebook and Google Places (Feel Agency for Inspired Homes - £200):

I modelled for Inspired Homes for the day.  The location was a very beautiful house in North London, and the shoot involved six of us having various photos taken in different rooms of the home.

I wasn't nervous as this was my 4th modelling assignment with Talent Management, so I feel as though I'm getting a little more confident and comfortable after each job, and gaining more experience is helping me a lot.

Photos were taken of myself and a female model, acting as though we were a couple enjoying our new home.  This was new for me but I adapted fairly quickly. The other models and crew members were very friendly and easy to get along with, which helps towards being relaxed for the shoot.

I enjoy modelling a lot and the variety that comes with it, it is always a little different to what you've done before which makes it that much more exciting to do.

Joining Talent Management has been an enjoyable experience and one of the best decisions I have ever made. It is a great organisation and I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in modelling.

You have probably covered this kind of story before but here goes. We are the parents of a 4 year old boy. We have always had lots of comments about how good looking he is and so decided to put him forward for modelling. We sent his picture to start up models who then rang us and raved about his look. Big ego boost to us but questions in our mind about how legit it was. Went for the photo shoot with them where he was a natural and they again raved about him. Then talked us into paying for a portfolio of 10 photos for £600 (rip off???!!!). We then sent these photos of to a number of agencies and at least 12 agencies got back to us offering to represent him, either for a hefty registration fee or after we had paid for more photos. As new parents to this industry you feel as though you are being conned at every turn and that people are playing on your role as doting parents. How do you know who to trust?
